Image tools
Image converter
Which format should I choose?
JPG is the most compatible and great for photos. PNG keeps transparency and sharp text and logos. WebP makes smaller files with good quality and works in every modern browser.
What happens to transparency when converting to JPG?
JPG has no transparency. Transparent areas get the background color chosen in the options, which is white by default.
Are my images uploaded to a server?
No. The conversion happens in your browser, so your images never leave your computer.
Compress image
Does the image lose quality?
With medium compression, the difference is barely visible on screen. Lowering the maximum size, like to 1920 px, shrinks phone photos the most.
What does the automatic format do?
JPG photos stay JPG. Images with a transparent background become WebP, which keeps the transparency and is much smaller than PNG.
What if the image does not get smaller?
The tool never gives you a bigger file. If it cannot compress any further, you get the original image back.
Resize image
What size should I use for Instagram?
For a square post, 1080 × 1080. For a portrait post, 1080 × 1350. For stories and reels, 1080 × 1920. Use "Exact size" with "Fill".
Does making an image bigger improve its quality?
No. Enlarging only makes the image bigger, without creating new detail. It may look blurry.
Watermark image
Which position protects the most?
A watermark repeated across the photo is the hardest to remove. In the corner, it gets in the way less, but it is easier to crop out.
Do the photos lose quality?
No. The photo keeps its original size and comes out at high quality.
Crop image
How do I make a 2x2 passport photo?
Choose the "Square (1:1)" ratio, fit your face in the frame and download. Print it at 2 × 2 inches.
Does the cropped image lose quality?
No. The crop uses the original pixels of the photo, without lowering the resolution.
Image to Base64
Should I use Base64 for every image?
No. Base64 makes the image about 33% larger. Use it for icons and small images, where saving an extra download is worth it.
Is the image uploaded to a server?
No. The conversion happens in your browser.
Base64 to image
Do I need the "data:image/png;base64," prefix?
No. The tool figures out the format from the first bytes of the image.
Which formats are recognized?
PNG, JPG, GIF, WebP, BMP, ICO, AVIF and SVG.
Text to image
What size works best for social media?
Use a 1080-pixel width for Instagram. The height adjusts to the text automatically.
Can I make an image with a transparent background?
Yes. Check "transparent background". The downloaded PNG keeps the transparency.
Edit PDF
Can I change text that is already in the PDF?
Yes. In Edit mode, click the text: it becomes an editable box where you can rewrite it, delete it and change its color, size and font. The old text is covered with the page background color.
How do I sign a PDF?
Click Sign, draw your signature with your mouse or finger and click use. Then drag the signature to the right spot and resize it from the corner.
Is the original PDF text still selectable?
Yes. The editor adds your elements on top without redrawing the PDF, so the quality does not change. Edited or deleted text is covered but still exists in the file. Do not use the editor to hide confidential data.
Is my file uploaded to a server?
No. The editing happens entirely in your browser.
Resume builder
Do I need an account?
No. The resume is built in your browser, and the draft is saved only on this device so you can come back to it later.
Can applicant tracking systems read the PDF?
Yes. The text goes into the PDF as real text, not as an image, so recruiting systems and job sites can read your resume.
Should I add a photo?
In the US, most employers prefer resumes without a photo, so you can leave that field empty. In some other countries a photo is common.
Is my data sent anywhere?
No. Nothing leaves your device. To delete the draft, click Clear.
Organize PDF
Does it work on a phone?
Yes. On a phone, use the arrows below each page to change the order.
Do the pages lose quality?
No. The pages are copied from the original PDF, without redrawing the content.
Merge PDF
Is there a file limit?
You can merge up to 30 files of up to 100 MB each at a time.
Does the PDF quality change?
No. The pages are copied as they are, without new compression. Text, links and images stay the same.
Does it work with password-protected PDFs?
PDFs that only restrict editing work. PDFs that need a password to open must be unlocked first.
Split PDF
How do I write the pages?
Separate them with commas. Use a hyphen for ranges: "1-3, 5" takes pages 1, 2, 3 and 5. "8-" goes from page 8 to the end.
What is the difference between splitting by ranges and extracting?
By ranges, each range becomes its own PDF. When extracting, all the chosen pages go into a single PDF.
Compress PDF
Which level should I choose?
Medium compression works for most cases. Strong makes much smaller files with less sharp images. Light keeps everything the same but shrinks less.
Is the text still selectable?
With light compression, yes. With medium and strong compression, the pages become images, so the text is no longer selectable or searchable.
What if the file does not get smaller?
The tool never gives you a bigger file. If compression does not help, you get the original file back.
Rotate PDF
Can I rotate each page by a different angle?
Yes. Each page has its own rotate left and right buttons. Adjust them all and download the file once.
Does the page content lose quality?
No. The tool only changes the page orientation, without touching the content.
Watermark PDF
Can the watermark be removed?
It is written into the content of each page, so it does not disappear with one click. Still, PDF editing apps can erase it. For confidential documents, use a password too.
Can I use accented letters?
Yes. Letters from Latin-alphabet languages, like é and ñ, work. Emojis and other alphabets are ignored.
Add page numbers to PDF
How do I leave the cover without a number?
Check "Do not number the first page". The second page gets the starting number you choose.
Does it work with sideways pages?
Yes. The number goes in the right spot and upright, even on rotated pages.
PDF to text
Does it work with scanned PDFs?
No. A scanned PDF is a picture of paper, with no real text. In that case the tool tells you no text was found.
Is the formatting kept?
No. The .txt file keeps only the text and line breaks, without bold, tables or images.
Image to PDF
Can I change the page order?
Yes. Use the arrows next to each image. The first one in the list becomes the first page of the PDF.
Is the photo quality kept?
Yes. JPG and PNG images go into the PDF without new compression. Other formats are converted at high quality.
Do phone photos end up sideways?
No. The tool follows the orientation saved by the camera and places each photo the right way up.
PDF to JPG
Can I save just one photo from the PDF?
Yes. In "Images in the document", the site shows the photos and pictures stored in the PDF at their original size. Check only the ones you want. If the picture is drawn by the PDF itself, use "Crop an area".
Which resolution should I use?
150 DPI works for viewing on screen and sending in messages. Use 300 DPI for printing or when you need to read small text.
Does it work with password-protected PDFs?
No. PDFs that need a password to open cannot be converted.
Is my PDF uploaded to a server?
No. The pages are drawn in your browser, and the file never leaves your computer.
Spreadsheets and CSV
CSV and Excel formatter
Is my data uploaded to a server?
No. All processing happens in your browser. That helps with privacy rules, because customer and employee data never goes to a third party.
Does it work with large files?
Yes, up to 100 MB. The preview shows the first rows, and the whole file is processed in the background when you download.
Why does my CSV open with garbled characters in Excel?
Excel does not detect UTF-8 unless the file starts with a special mark. Export with "UTF-8 for Excel" and the characters will show correctly.
Does it work with Excel spreadsheets?
Yes. Open .xlsx, .xls or .ods files and choose the sheet. Dates arrive as 2026-10-15 and numbers without formatting, and the steps convert them to the format you want. You can download the result as CSV or Excel.
What is a recipe?
It is the list of steps you built. Save it with a name and use it again on the next file, without redoing anything. You can also download the recipe and send it to a coworker.
Unit conversion
Unit converter
Can I use a comma as the decimal separator?
Yes. The converter understands both 1.5 and 1,5, as well as values with thousands separators like 1,234.56.
Are US cups and gallons included?
Yes. US cups, pints, quarts, gallons, fluid ounces, tablespoons and teaspoons are included, along with imperial units and fuel economy in miles per gallon.
Numbers
Percentage calculator
How do I calculate a 20% discount?
In "Increase or discount", choose Discount and type the price and 20. A $150 item with 20% off costs $120.
What is the difference between percentage change and percentage?
Percentage change compares two values: if a price went from 80 to 100, it rose 25%. A percentage shows how much a part represents of the total.
Number base converter
Does it work with big numbers?
Yes. The conversion uses arbitrary-precision math, so numbers with hundreds of digits convert without rounding errors.
Can I paste numbers with a prefix, like 0x1F or 0b1010?
Yes. The 0x, 0b and 0o prefixes are accepted in the hexadecimal, binary and octal fields. Spaces between digits are ignored too.
Decimal to fraction
How does the tool handle repeating decimals like 0.3333?
It finds the closest fraction with a denominator up to the chosen limit. With the default limit of 1000, 0.3333 becomes 1/3.
Can I mix decimals and fractions?
Yes. Each line is converted in the right direction: lines with a slash become decimals, and the others become fractions.
Roman numerals
Why only up to 3999?
Traditional Roman numerals have no symbol for 5000. Larger numbers used a bar over the letter, which does not exist in plain text.
What happens with a badly written numeral?
The line gets a ⚠ mark. Forms like IIII or VX do not follow the rules and are not converted.
Number to words
How large a number can it write?
Up to the quintillions, with whole numbers or decimals.
How do I write a check amount?
Choose money mode and type the amount, like 1,234.56. You get "one thousand two hundred thirty-four dollars and fifty-six cents".
Proportion calculator
How do I know if it is direct or inverse?
If both quantities grow together, like quantity and price, it is direct. If one grows while the other shrinks, like workers and days, it is inverse.
Can I use it for percentages?
Yes. Put 100 in A, the total in B and the percentage in C. For percentages, the percentage calculator on this site is quicker.
Compound interest
How do I convert an annual rate to monthly?
Choose "per year" next to the rate and the calculator converts it for you. It uses compound conversion: 12% per year equals about 0.95% per month, not 1%.
Does the result include taxes and inflation?
No. It simulates gross interest. Real investments may have taxes and fees and lose value to inflation.
Text cleanup
Remove special characters
What counts as a special character?
Anything that is not a letter, number or space: symbols like @ # $ % & *, arrows, stars, emojis and formatting marks. Punctuation is removed too, unless you check the option to keep it.
Are accented letters removed?
Not by default. If you uncheck the option to keep accents, accented letters are replaced by their plain version, so "café" becomes "cafe".
Is my text sent to a server?
No. All processing happens in your browser.
Remove accents
Why remove accents?
Many old systems, web addresses, file names and logins do not accept accented letters. Removing them avoids errors and garbled characters like "café".
Does it work with other languages?
Yes. The tool handles accents from Spanish, French, German, Portuguese and other languages that use the Latin alphabet.
Do punctuation and numbers change?
No. Only the accented letters change.
Remove punctuation
Which marks are removed?
Periods, commas, semicolons, colons, exclamation and question marks, quotes, parentheses, brackets, dashes, ellipses and other punctuation.
Do words like "e-mail" stay together?
With the option to keep hyphens checked, "e-mail" stays the same. Unchecked, it becomes "email".
Remove extra spaces
Are tabs removed too?
Yes. Tabs and special spaces are treated as regular spaces and collapsed into one.
Are line breaks kept?
Yes. To join all lines into one, use the Remove line breaks tool.
Remove line breaks
Why does text from a PDF come out broken?
A PDF stores each line of the page separately. When you copy, every line end becomes a break, even mid-sentence.
Can I turn a list into comma-separated items?
Yes. Choose the comma as the separator and every line becomes an item separated by a comma.
Remove HTML tags
Does the content of scripts and styles show up in the result?
No. The content of script, style and noscript tags is removed completely, along with HTML comments.
Is it safe to paste HTML from any website?
Yes. The code is never run. It is treated only as text and processed in your browser.
Remove invisible characters
What are these invisible characters?
Zero-width spaces, byte order marks (BOM), soft hyphens, text direction marks and control characters. They often come from text copied from websites, PDFs and messaging apps.
Why does a search miss text that looks identical?
There is often an invisible character in the middle of the word. After cleaning the text here, the search works again.
Are combined emojis affected?
Yes. Family and profession emojis use an invisible joining character. Removing it splits them into individual emojis.
Remove emojis
Are symbols like © and ™ removed?
No. They are kept because they are part of regular text. Only their colorful emoji version is removed.
Does it work with new emojis?
Yes. The tool uses the official Unicode categories, which your browser updates over time.
Remove duplicates
Does the order of the list change?
No. The first occurrence of each item stays in place, and the later repeats are removed.
Do "House" and "house" count as the same?
Only if the option to ignore uppercase and lowercase is checked.
Remove text in parentheses
Do nested parentheses work?
Yes. The tool removes the whole part, from the first opening mark to its matching close.
How do I remove references like [1] from Wikipedia text?
Check the brackets option. Every numbered reference will be removed.
Text and lists
Case converter
Do accented letters stay correct?
Yes. Letters like é, ñ and ü become É, Ñ and Ü, and the other way around, without losing the accent.
What does keeping small words lowercase do?
It follows headline style, like "The Lord of the Rings" instead of "The Lord Of The Rings". The first word is always capitalized.
Character counter
Does an emoji count as one character?
Yes. Each emoji counts as one character, the way it shows on screen. Some social networks count emojis as two.
How is the reading time calculated?
Using an average of 200 words per minute for silent reading and 130 words per minute when speaking out loud.
Text to lines
How does the tool know where a sentence ends?
It splits after a period, exclamation mark, question mark or ellipsis followed by a capital letter or number.
Do abbreviations like "Mr." break the sentence?
They can, if the next word starts with a capital letter. Review text with many abbreviations.
Wrap text into lines
What happens to a word longer than the limit?
It is cut at the limit, even with the option to not cut words, because it would not fit otherwise.
Are the original line breaks kept?
Yes. Each original line is wrapped separately.
Group characters
Can I split a text into chunks of 160 characters?
Yes. Choose 160 as the size and "line break" as the separator.
Do spaces count as characters?
Not by default: they are removed before grouping. Uncheck the option to count them.
Text to columns
In what order are the items placed?
Left to right, row by row, like reading a text.
How do I paste into Excel or Google Sheets?
Use tab as the separator. When you paste, each item lands in its own cell.
Text to list
Can I use a different separator, like " - "?
Yes. Choose "other" and type the separator.
How do I go the other way?
Use the List to text tool, which joins the items with the separator you choose.
List to text
How do I build a list for SQL IN?
Choose single quotes and comma with space. The result looks like 'a', 'b', 'c'.
How do I get "apples, bananas and grapes"?
Check the option to use a word before the last item and type "and" as the word.
List with template
What can I create with it?
Numbered lists, HTML tags, SQL commands, personalized messages and any text that repeats with only one part changing.
Can I use {item} more than once?
Yes. Every occurrence of {item} and {n} is replaced.
Encoding
Base64
Is Base64 encryption?
No. Base64 only changes how the data is written. Anyone can decode it, so do not use it to hide passwords.
How do I convert an image to Base64?
Use the Image to Base64 tool, which creates code ready for HTML and CSS.
URL encoder
What is the difference between parameter and full URL?
In parameter mode, marks like / ? & = are encoded too, which is right for values inside a link. In full URL mode, they are kept.
Why does a space sometimes become +?
HTML forms use + instead of a space. When decoding, the "treat + as a space" option handles that.
HTML entities
When do I need to convert accents?
UTF-8 pages accept accents directly. Convert accents only for old systems or emails that do not use UTF-8.
Which entities are recognized when decoding?
Numeric ones, like é and é, and the most common named ones, like &, , © and every accented letter.
Fix garbled characters
Why do characters get garbled?
The text was saved in UTF-8 and opened as Latin-1 (or Windows-1252). Each special character turns into two odd ones, like "é" becoming "é".
What if the error happened twice?
The tool repeats the fix while it finds signs of the error, so text that was garbled twice gets fixed too.
Text to binary
What is the difference between "UTF-8 bytes" and "code of each character"?
Plain letters are the same in both modes. An accented "é" becomes two bytes in UTF-8 (195 and 169) but has a single Unicode code (233). Use bytes for computing and character codes for ASCII and Unicode tables.
Do I need to separate the numbers to decode?
Not always. In binary and hexadecimal, the tool also reads everything joined together, cutting it into blocks of 8 bits or 2 digits.
Morse code
How are words separated in Morse?
Letters are separated by a space, and words by a slash (/).
What about accents?
International Morse has no accents, so "café" is translated as "cafe".
Web and data
QR code generator
Does the QR code expire?
No. The content is stored in the image itself, without going through any server, so it works forever.
Which format should I download?
PNG works for messages and social media. SVG keeps its quality at any size and is better for printing, banners and menus.
Does the QR code have a watermark?
No. The image comes out clean, with just the code.
Password generator
Are the passwords secure?
Yes. They are generated in your browser with the cryptographic random generator used in security systems. No password goes over the internet.
How long should my password be?
At least 12 characters, with letters, numbers and symbols. For email and banking, prefer 16 or more and use a password manager to store them.
Slug generator
Hyphen or underscore?
Google recommends hyphens in URLs because they separate the words. Use underscores only if your system requires them.
What happens to accents?
They become plain letters: "café" becomes "cafe".
Markdown to HTML
Which flavor of Markdown is used?
GitHub Flavored Markdown, which includes tables, task lists and strikethrough text.
Is the generated HTML safe to paste on my site?
HTML already inside the Markdown passes through as is. If the text comes from someone else, review it before publishing.
List to HTML select
Do special characters break the HTML?
No. Marks like < > & and quotes are converted into HTML entities.
Can I create only the option tags?
Yes. Uncheck "include the <select> tag".
List to HTML
Do empty lines become items?
No. Empty lines are ignored.
What if an item has < or &?
Those marks are converted into HTML entities, so they show up correctly on the page.
JSON to CSV
Why does my CSV open in a single column in Excel?
Excel set to some European languages expects a semicolon as the separator. Choose "semicolon" when creating the CSV for those users.
What happens to objects inside objects?
They become columns with the full path, like "address.city". Lists inside objects are saved as JSON text in the cell.
YAML to JSON
Are YAML comments kept?
No. JSON has no comments, so they are dropped in the conversion.
Does the tool show where the error is?
Yes. If the YAML or JSON has a syntax error, the message shows the line and column of the problem.
Colors
Color converter
Which input formats are accepted?
HEX with 3, 4, 6 or 8 digits, rgb(), rgba(), hsl(), hsv(), cmyk() and also three comma-separated numbers, like 37, 99, 235.
Will the CMYK match my print shop?
It is a direct mathematical conversion. Print shops use color profiles that change the values slightly, so confirm with them for print jobs.
Date and time
Date calculator
Which holidays count for business days?
US federal holidays, observed on the nearest weekday when they fall on a weekend. Columbus Day and Veterans Day only count if you check the option, since many businesses stay open. State holidays are not included.
Is the start date counted?
No. Counting starts the next day and includes the end date, like most deadlines.
Unix timestamp
How do I know if the timestamp is in seconds or milliseconds?
Current timestamps in seconds have 10 digits, and in milliseconds they have 13. In automatic mode, the tool decides by length.
Which time zone is used?
The result shows in your computer’s time zone and also in UTC.
Decimal hours
How much is 0.1 hour?
0.1 hour is 6 minutes. Each tenth of an hour equals 6 minutes.
Does it work with more than 24 hours?
Yes. 30.5 becomes 30:30:00, which is handy for adding up hours worked.
